Casio’s new flagship aviation G-Shock is no longer just a launch announcement. UK pre-orders are now open for the GWR-B3000 Gravitymaster family, introducing a metal-supported structure, sapphire crystal and the first major evolution of Casio’s TOUGH MVT. analogue movement in 18 years.

Three versions are entering the runway: the black-and-silver GWR-B3000-1A, the blue GWR-B3000A-2A and the coordinated grey GWR-B3000B-8A. All share the same Japanese-made construction, Tough Solar power, Multiband 6 radio control, Bluetooth connectivity and Triple G Resist protection. The choice is therefore about colour and finishing rather than accepting fewer functions on the least expensive model.

UK pre-orders are open now

Casio UK lists all three watches for pre-order, with expected delivery in four to six weeks. The GWR-B3000-1A costs £750, the blue GWR-B3000A-2A is £800 and the grey GWR-B3000B-8A reaches £870. Casio’s European pages mark the collection as new for August 2026; published European pricing is €799 for the 1A and €899 for both coloured versions.

Official US pricing has not yet been announced. For international context only, conversions of the current British prices are approximately $1,010, $1,075 and $1,165 respectively. Those are currency conversions, not US recommended retail prices, so taxes and Casio’s eventual regional positioning may produce different numbers.

TOUGH MVT.2 notices shocks before you do

The most important development is inside the case. Casio describes TOUGH MVT.2 as the first major evolution of its self-regulating, solar-powered analogue movement in 18 years. It retains automatic time correction, hybrid mounting, Tough Solar charging and automatic hand-position correction, but it now responds immediately to two enemies of analogue accuracy: impact and magnetism.

A shock-detection system monitors impacts strong enough to disturb the hands. Instead of waiting for the conventional scheduled correction, the movement detects the event and restores the hands to their correct positions immediately. Magnetic-field detection uses dedicated sensors to identify a strong external field. The hands temporarily stop before the field can pull them away from their reference positions, then resume at the correct time once the interference disappears.

That may sound like technology built for a theoretical cockpit, but magnets are now common around wireless chargers, speakers, tablets and laptop covers. A movement that actively avoids disruption makes practical sense even if the closest most owners get to supersonic flight is an airport departure board.

A dual-hollow structure built around Triple G Resist

Gravitymaster represents the “air” division of the Master of G family, and Triple G Resist remains its structural signature. The GWR-B3000 is engineered against ordinary shocks, centrifugal force and vibration. Casio used computer-aided topology analysis to simulate all three stresses and remove unnecessary material while preserving strength.

The result is a new dual-hollow construction. A carbon-fibre-reinforced resin inner case is suspended within an outer protective structure at four points. Precisely formed stainless-steel components produced by metal injection moulding work with resin shock absorbers, isolating the movement while leaving parts of the engineering visible. It gives the watch the technical skeleton of a machine rather than simply covering a resin case with a decorative metal ring.

Large dimensions, surprisingly controlled weight

The case measures 56.7 mm from top to bottom, 47.3 mm across and 14.1 mm thick. It weighs 102 grams on its soft urethane strap. This is unmistakably a large G-Shock, but 102 grams is relatively controlled for a watch with this amount of steel, a sapphire crystal and a screw-lock crown. The official compatible wrist range is 145 to 215 mm.

Water resistance is rated to 200 metres. The spherical sapphire crystal receives an anti-reflective coating, the hands and hour markers use Neobrite luminous material, and a white Super Illuminator LED with afterglow handles dark conditions. The watch is manufactured in Japan and its bio-based resin components include the centre case and strap.

An anti-glare dial that hides its solar panels

Casio developed a new dark dial with micro-engineered surface textures that scatter incoming light and reduce glare. Rather than relying on paint alone, the moulded texture creates contrast through light and shadow. The oversized 12 o’clock marker provides immediate orientation, while the broad hands and dimensional indexes are designed to remain readable from changing cockpit angles.

The solar system is unusually discreet. Light-receptive areas are concentrated within the inset dials, allowing the main dial to maintain a deeper, more opaque black. Fully charged, the watch is rated for approximately five months of normal operation without new light exposure, or up to 22 months in darkness with power saving activated.

Multiband 6, Bluetooth and direct UTC access

The GWR-B3000 can correct itself through Multiband 6 radio signals or a Bluetooth link to the Casio Watches app. Without either correction source, Casio specifies conventional quartz accuracy of ±15 seconds per month. World time covers 38 time zones directly on the watch, while the app expands easy selection to around 300 cities.

The main dial and subdial can show two time zones simultaneously, and a long press provides direct access to UTC. Flight Log records the current time and location through the connected phone, allowing departure, transit and arrival points to be grouped into a trip history. There is also a phone finder, a 24-hour stopwatch, a 24-hour countdown timer, a daily alarm, a battery-level indicator and a full automatic calendar programmed through 2099.

Three treatments, one complete specification

The GWR-B3000-1A is the most restrained and the least expensive: a silver-toned metal structure, black dial and black strap, sharpened by a small neon-yellow accent. The GWR-B3000A-2A introduces blue across the dial, bezel treatment and strap. The GWR-B3000B-8A takes the stealthier route, coordinating grey and dark metallic surfaces for the most monochromatic appearance of the trio.

All three retain the sapphire crystal, 200-metre rating, Tough Solar system, Multiband 6, Bluetooth, TOUGH MVT.2 and the same case dimensions. Casio is charging for the more elaborate colour and surface treatments—not reserving useful technology for the top-priced reference.

My choice: the GWR-B3000-1A

I already own a Gravitymaster, so this line is more than an abstract collection of specifications for me. These watches have a particular combination of huge wrist presence, aviation-instrument legibility and worry-free toughness that few conventional pilot’s watches can reproduce.

My favourite of the three new releases is the G-Shock GWR-B3000-1A. The black dial and strap keep the watch serious, the exposed silver-coloured metal structure makes the engineering easy to appreciate, and the small neon-yellow accent supplies exactly enough energy. It is also the most affordable reference, yet gives up none of the important technology.

Conclusion

At £750 to £870, this is premium G-Shock territory, but the price is supported by more than a metal bezel. The GWR-B3000 brings a Japanese-made dual-hollow case, sapphire crystal, Triple G Resist engineering and a genuinely new movement that actively protects analogue accuracy from shocks and magnetic fields. Add radio and Bluetooth synchronisation, three-day-trip-friendly solar autonomy and a proper 200-metre rating, and the specification begins to resemble an MT-G alternative with a more focused aviation identity.

For collectors who want a smaller or discreet watch, the dimensions will remain the obvious obstacle. For Gravitymaster owners—and for large-wristed G-Shock fans who enjoy seeing the structure do some visual work—the GWR-B3000-1A looks like the sweet spot of the new family.
