Here is my honest opinion after years of collecting and wearing watches: men’s watches are just better. And no, 41mm is not too big for a woman’s wrist.

You’ve got a crisp, opaline white dial contrasted against two deep, matte-black sub-dials. It is clean, legible, and visually balanced in a way that tickles the design-obsessed part of my brain. Add in TUDOR’s signature snowflake hands and the subtle red accent on the tip of the chronograph hand, plus the red depth rating text, and you have a watch face that looks like it belongs on a vintage racing grid in the 1970s.

It has personality. It doesn’t scream for attention, but if someone catches a glance of it across a table, they know it’s something special.

It’s powered by the manufacture Calibre MT5813, which boasts a 70-hour power reserve and a column-wheel chronograph mechanism with a vertical clutch.

It is also water-resistant to 200 meters. Am I ever going to strap on a scuba tank and dive 200 meters into the freezing ocean? Not in this lifetime. I barely want to go in the deep end of my local swimming pool. But it gives me wonderful peace of mind knowing that if I accidentally wear it in the shower, or get caught in a massive, unexpected rainstorm, my precious Panda is going to be completely unharmed.

The “Too Big” Debate 

If you go on the internet and read reviews written by men about this specific watch, you will inevitably stumble upon a whole lot of complaining about its size.

Yes, it’s technically marketed as a men’s watch. Yes, it measures 41 millimeters across. And no, in my humble opinion, 41mm is not big. It’s just confident.

I actually find it hilarious that some guys think this is a heavy, massive beast of a watch. To me, it feels incredibly empowering. 

Size is mostly a matter of perspective and confidence. When a watch fits well across the top of your wrist without overhang, the exact millimeter measurement doesn’t matter as much as people think. On my wrist, the Black Bay Chrono makes a statement, but it doesn’t look absurd. It feels modern and intentional.

Ditching the Steel: Switching to a Leather Strap

When I first brought the watch home, it came on the standard Tudor stainless steel bracelet. It looked great, but after a while, the full steel setup felt a bit too heavy and formal for how I wanted to wear it. Steel on steel made the watch feel rigid, and the extra weight of the metal bracelet combined with the thick chronograph case felt like a bit too much metal for my taste.

So, I decided to take the bracelet off and put it on a leather strap instead.

That single change completely transformed the watch. The leather strap softened the overall look, making it feel warmer, more relaxed, and much more personal. It cut down the weight significantly, making the watch far more comfortable to wear for long stretches.

Visually, the black or dark brown leather accents the panda dial beautifully. It shifts the watch away from feeling purely like a heavy sports watch and brings it closer to an everyday classic piece that pairs easily with casual sweaters, denim, or an oversized blazer. If you ever feel like a watch is wearing you rather than the other way around, changing the strap is often all it takes to fix the balance.

Final Thoughts

If there is any takeaway from my years with the Tudor Black Bay Chrono M79360N-0012, it is that style rules are meant to be broken. You should not feel limited to the women’s section of a watch store just because of traditional marketing. If you like larger cases, bold dials, and watches with real presence, go wear them.

At 41mm, this watch is not too big, it is just right for me. Swapping the bracelet for leather gave it a personal, relaxed feel that matches my everyday style, and after all these years, I still get the exact same excitement putting it on today as I did the first day I bought it.

It might not be the watch I wear every single morning, but after a few years together, it remains one of my absolute favorites to wear whenever I want something with real presence.
